It has been 4 years since I began my journey as an entrepreneur. From working as a freelancer to building an agency, then pivoting to SaaS, it has been a great journey with immense learning that I could have never learned otherwise!

After a series of failures, I found luck with Engagespot, a SaaS product that I’ve built along with my co-founder Anandu. Though it didn’t become a million dollar business, it’s growing pretty good and being used by 1000s of users, including some of the leading enterprise companies in the world.

Today, I’m excited to introduce Logidots, our new startup where we’re trying to solve one of the challenging problems in the tech industry — Getting quality technology services on demand!

It was actually during the days of building Engagespot, I realized this problem. I looked for several freelancers to build some modules for the product. I tried Freelancer, UpWork, Small local dev shops etc to find a good developer. But the process was daunting, as it involved screening developers, finding if they have experience in doing similar projects, worrying about their reliability etc. And I ended up hiring a developer who didn’t develop it as I needed. And I had to code it from scratch again myself. Total Failure!

Problems in traditional software outsourcing

If me, as a techie faced this problem, worse could happen for a non-technical person when he wants to choose someone to get his idea developed.

Software Outsourcing has changed! And is complicated.

The main challenges and boring problems associated with finding technology services are :

  • It takes a lot of time (and harder) to search, filter, and choose a developer or a shop that matches your requirements.
  • The above problem.

Yeah! The tech talent shortage is a problem faced by every tech and non-tech companies around the globe. One of the reasons is that technology is evolving rapidly than ever before and it’s not cost-effective to hire permanent resources for every new technology or to train existing employees on new technologies.

This is where the old world — outsourcing, is making a coming back, but in different attire.

Both startups and enterprises now look for freelancers and other third-party technology providers to build a product or a prototype to dive into new markets. They don’t have to spend the time and cost to hire a full time, in-house development team. They should be able to do that with a fraction of the cost associated with building an in-house team.

Every business will become a software business, build applications, use advanced analytics and provide Saas services — Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft

That’s it. The demand for software technology services are shooting up but the supply side is not increasing, is either scattered or unorganized.

This is where Logidots is trying to make an impact. We’re trying to be the world's largest software technology team, without owning any technology experts of our own!

Our aim is to build a platform that assembles a technology team as quickly as possible by bringing in the right talents who have the matching skill set and prior experience in similar requirements. We’re experimenting AI to automate this process and make it more efficient, but very early to talk about that.

We have already delivered services to some of the top startups in Silicon Valley and enterprise customers like World Health Organization, Schneider etc.

With a small team size of less than 10, we have handled more than 5 enterprise projects at a time and is expecting revenue of $150000 in the next FY. By expanding our freelance/remote talent pool, we’re trying to grow exponentially in the coming years.

We’ll partner with other development shops in the near future to bring their top developers on our freelance talent network so that they can open up an additional revenue stream as well.

The “Gig Economy” is coming!

Gig economy workers and freelancers contribute $1.4tn to the US economy annually and that the growth in freelance workers is nearly doubling every year.

The future of work won’t be similar to what we see today. It’s evolving. You can clearly see the impact in other industries like Transport, Hospitality, Shopping etc.

Technology service is where it’s going to hit next. Who will cater to the ever-changing technology requirements for startups and enterprise businesses? How can they avail quality technology services without wasting time and money? There should be one platform or a marketplace where anyone (Small, Medium, Enterprise) can avail on-demand technology services without facing the usual problems in traditional technology outsourcing. The service must be delivered quickly thus by reducing time to market, and cost.

Are we heading towards a world where machines will produce software without a human developer coding it? Who knows? Well, maybe machine assisted software development is a better idea.

We’re taking the initial steps to build such a future where developing software will be as easy as ordering an item in Amazon! Because software is going to rule every industry and creating software is going to be a huge problem! It needs a solution. And, We’re a bunch of software folks who can’t sleep without finding a solution!

FYI — If you’re someone who is figuring out how to convert that next big idea in your mind to a working tech product, send us an email — contact@logidots.com

Also, We’re looking to partner with expert freelance developers to try out our platform and create the next biggest software revolution together!
